I’m Courtney, the face behind Dark Horse Photography. I’m a lifelong equestrian, mom, and semi-professional turquoise collector focusing on family and equestrian photography in Dallas, Texas.
The Dark Horse brand pays homage to my first horse, Doak. I specialize in timeless equestrian and family photography, documenting the important moments with those that mean the most.

What kind of photos do you take?
I take “true to life” photos of families, horses, horse shows, and select brands.
Do you take pictures of people and their horses?
That is my primary passion, capturing people and their equines! I cover the classic Equestrian Photography offering of Lifestyle, Black Backgroud, Fine Art, show coverage, and clinic photography.
Do you do family photos as well?
I love taking family photos, and offer a variety of sessions. Each year I have Fall Mini’s at various locations in DFW, wildflower sessions, and Senior Portraits. Throughout the year I have family sessions available on an ad hoc basis.
Do you take photos of people with your horse?
I have my personal horse, Chief, that I allow people to use for photoshoots when I am the photographer.
Where are you located? Do you travel?
I am located in Dallas, Texas, however I travel all over for my sessions. I am always shooting around the following cities, which I consider in my coverage area: Weatherford, Stephenville, Granbury, Burleson, Mineral Wells, Fort Worth, Pilot Point, Aubrey, Greenville, Tyler, Longview, Palestine, Waxahachie, Ennis, Corsicana.
